WHY WOULD YOU NEED US?
If you are a policyholder making a claim, your commercial interests are quite different to those of the insurance company being asked to pay the claim. They take the sensible precaution of retaining specialists to protect their interests and mitigate their losses. The specialists they engage are primarily Loss Adjusters, whose brief is to investigate the event giving rise to the claim, your compliance with the terms of the policy, the adequacy of your insurance cover; and to scrutinise and ‘adjust’ your claim if accepted. Historic boasts by loss adjusters of independence and impartiality are as mythical today as ever they were. Most of those not directly employed or owned by insurance companies are effectively acting as their outsourced claims departments. If there are grounds for avoiding or reducing a claim, their job is to exploit those grounds.
For over 150 years, the insurance establishment reluctantly accepted the existence of loss assessors acting for policyholders, but refused to acknowledge the validity of our role. Our involvement meant holding the insurers to account, and this does not serve their economic interest. The Financial Services Authority have now formally recognised the legitimacy of the valuable service loss assessors provide, by bringing them within the established financial community.
At BSN we balance the scales weighted against the lay policyholder by the sharp and experienced loss adjusters and claims handlers employed by the insurers. We understand how they think, and we negotiate with them on equal terms. Our expert knowledge of insurance contracts and claims practice are complemented by professional representation, and judgement borne of experience. We will save you a great deal of time, relieve your stress, give you clear explanations, keep you informed, promote your interests, and negotiate the best terms and solutions available.
We have a constructive working relationship with all the major firms of loss adjusters, and many of the smaller ones. Our aim is to settle claims amicably if at all possible, but we will not shrink from a fight if the claim is contentious.
